How many diets have you tried so far? 1000? for some of us keeping our bodyweight under control is really hard, is not even a matter of discipline anymore, but a metabolic one.
A few years ago I really struggled with my weight, I have always been somewhat athletic but not always felt healthy or look as fit as I look today, I found really hard to keep my weight under control, for many many years I took the wrong approach on dieting, and that happened because of the lack of information back then, let me give you the background story so you can take a deeper look at the issues I was facing.
I used to compete in real high levels in my favorite sport on earth, Muay Thai, now is very popular because of MMA and its amazing growth in the past 15 years, when I was competing it was more for the love for the sport than the money. I used to train between 4 to 6 hours a day 5 to 6 days a week, I had a nutritionist, a trainer and a physiotherapist, the whole works, my first years I was a well-kept machine, high levels of testosterone, super-efficient metabolism, but the time passed and my body changed, the old regime was not working anymore, I was packing on lots of weight and look bulky, for some I was super strong but certainly I didn't feel that way, on the contrary I felt slow and chubby.
3 years later finally I realized that I was caught up on a bad cycle of packing weight and muscle mass so I can cut it by dehydration and make weight for the fights, that was a nightmare. I felt unhealthy and start having issues to keep my weight under control.
Many years after my professional fighting career was done I discovered one trick to keep my weight under control, keeping my metabolism at its best and definitely feeling healthier. My secret was to eat during a reduced period of time, regularly 6 to 8 hours, and the rest of the time just drinking water, never felt this strong in my life! I went from 205 lbs to 180 lbs and now I been at 170 lbs for a long time, my body fat is around 12% and my muscle mass is only that hard and healthy muscle.
There is a catch though, It doesn't work If you eat junk food or too much of processed products, so keep your focus on whole foods like real veggies, fruits, nuts, grains, and some meat.
In a new article, I will share with you a simple way to get into intermittent fasting without suffering at all.
